THE MAKING OF ZENO · STUDIO III · LONDON, 1985
Abbey Road.
Where history echoed back.
“This album was produced between January and August 1985 throughout the World.”
— FROM THE ORIGINAL ZENO VINYL SLEEVE, 1986
The sleeve’s almost mythical claim was no exaggeration. From Dublin through the Danish countryside and onward to London, ZENO’s debut album was taking shape across borders and studios.
At EMI’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, the band continued its work with producer Terry Manning. The storied rooms and analog recording environment suited the scale of the music: Michael Flexig’s soaring, high-register vocals, Zeno Roth’s orchestral guitar arrangements, and songs such as “Eastern Sun,” “A Little More Love,” and “Love Will Live” — music that needed space to breathe.
