The Story.
In Hanover, Germany, in 1984, three musicians came together to pursue a shared musical vision: lead vocalist Michael Flexig, guitarist Zeno Roth and bassist Ule W. Ritgen.
Each brought an individual musical character. Flexig's distinctive unmistakable high-reaching voice and expressive interpretations, Roth's powerful, melodic guitar playing and compositions, and Ritgen's melodic bass lines and songwriting became defining elements of the ZENO sound.
Together, they created music of remarkable depth and emotion — richly layered arrangements, soaring melodies and the shared ambition to reach beyond the familiar boundaries of rock. On record and on stage, their individual strengths became one unmistakable musical identity.
Recorded in 1985 and released in 1986, ZENO's self-titled debut album carried that spirit to listeners around the world, particularly in Japan.
These are the people, the places and the moments behind that music. Welcome to the world of ZENO.
